Twilight: Breaking Dawn

Twilight Breaking Dawn

Bella’s Gown

Twilight: Breaking Dawn is a good old-fashioned, gothic romance. With a lovely, virginal young woman pursued and won by a dark, brooding hero. And, as any fifteen year old—plus a whole host of her older sisters—will attest that formula is irresistible to many, many women. We love romance and we loved the wedding gown!

The author, Stephanie Meyer, and Breaking Dawn director, Bill Condon, chose designer, Carolina Herrera, to produce the ethereal creation and selected their final choice from ten concepts she submitted. Ms. Herrera and her team of four seamstresses worked for more than six months to produce the dream of crepe satin and French Chantilly lace. The back of the dress features a sheer panel with delicate embroidery and 118 buttons, a lovely surprise as our heroine, Bella walks down the aisle to meet her groom under the bower of lush greenery and white flowers.

If any modern bride decides she is tired of the de rigueur strapless gown with ballroom skirt, this lovely design is a huge departure. Like the gown chosen by Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, it is

sophisticated. Bella’s dress also features long sleeves each fastened with seventeen silk covered buttons and pointed lace cuffs covering the back of her hand. The dress itself is bias cut which drapes and flatters youthful bodies who have spent many hours working out in a gym to achieve perfection.

Carolina Herrera’s salons will feature the Bella gown in January 2012. Copies are available from Alfred Angelo right now and cost around one thousand dollars. Miss Herrera’s will cost much more.
